Rob works at the interface between machine learning and economics. He has done research on scalable models for learning each customer's unique preferences and on understanding the tradeoffs companies face between customer experience and profitability when ranking products in search results.
Prior to Arena, Rob worked at Instacart on pricing, coupon targeting, and paid marketing optimization. Before that he did economics research at Facebook. He also helped found Kinta ai, a startup focused on AI for factory planning automation.
Rob has a BA in mathematics from Pomona College and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
